Kier Property starts on site at Safestore Watford

Kier Property, in partnership with Watford Borough Council, has commenced construction on its latest industrial scheme at Watford Riverwell.

The joint venture is delivering a purpose-built unit for Safestore opposite its very successful Trade City development it completed in 2017. Faircloth Construction Ltd has been appointed to deliver the highly sustainable development, which is scheduled for occupation in spring 2026.

Watford Riverwell is a transformative regeneration initiative between Kier Property and Watford Borough Council. Previous phases of the partnership have successfully delivered high-quality residential, commercial, and community spaces, showcasing a shared commitment to creating vibrant, sustainable environments where people can work, live and socialise.

Key features of the Watford Safestore scheme include:

–  1,623 sqm building, expandable to 7,666 sqm using demountable mezzanine floors.

–  Targeting BREEAM Excellent certification for sustainability.

–  Incorporating renewable energy solutions, such as solar PV panels, and energy-efficient materials to reduce carbon emissions and operational costs.

–  Delivering a 14.3% net gain in biodiversity, enhancing local ecosystems and green spaces.

–  Benefits from excellent transport links.

This project will be Kier Property’s 58th industrial and logistics spaces across the UK, setting new standards in sustainable industrial development.
